    FOR EVERYDAY CLINICAL WORK

Share referral letters, lab reports and DICOM files.

A report for a treating physician, images for a second opinion or documents for a referring practice: Unomed Transfer lets you send documents via a link instead of large email attachments. Recipients do not need additional software to download them.

Open downloaded medical images with the free DICOM viewer. Use the DICOM anonymiser to prepare sample and research data. Transfer is for short-term delivery. Unomed Cloud Storage provides ongoing storage; Unomed PACS supports larger radiology studies and workflows.

    UNOMED TRANSFER

What “deleted after 7 days” means.

Files can no longer be retrieved after expiry. During normal operation, the service removes encrypted files and active transfer data within one minute. IP addresses, filenames, file sizes, file types and access events remain in a separate usage log with no automatic deletion period. You can also remove the transfer earlier using your private deletion link.

This does not delete previously downloaded copies, saved links or external infrastructure backups. This free transfer service does not guarantee that data is stored exclusively in Switzerland. Before using it for patient data, check your organisation’s requirements and the service’s operating conditions.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Sending files for free: good to know.

    Is the file transfer free?

Yes. Each transfer can include up to 50 files and 250 MB in total, free of charge. Neither senders nor recipients need an account.

Which medical documents can I send?

Unomed Transfer supports all file formats, including PDF referral letters, lab reports, photos, DICOM files and ZIP archives. Before sending personal medical records, your organisation must assess the suitability and operating conditions of the service.

    How does encryption work?

File contents are encrypted in the browser using AES-256-GCM before upload. Filenames, sizes and types are sent separately for the permanent usage log. The key is in the sharing link after the # symbol and is not sent to the server when files are retrieved. Anyone with the complete link can open the files.

    When are the files deleted?

Access ends seven days after a successful upload. During normal operation, cleanup runs every minute to remove encrypted files and active transfer data. The separate usage log containing IP addresses, filenames and metadata is retained permanently. Downloaded copies and external infrastructure backups are outside this process. Forensically traceless deletion is not guaranteed.

Can I delete a transfer earlier?

Yes. After upload you receive a separate private deletion link. Use it to remove the files from the service at any time. The usage log remains, as do copies already downloaded by recipients.

Is Unomed Transfer an alternative to SwissTransfer for doctors?

Unomed Transfer follows the familiar process: choose files, upload and share a link. Designed for healthcare professionals, it complements Unomed’s free tools. It is an independent Unomed service and is not part of SwissTransfer or Infomaniak.
