Request account and data deletion

How to delete your Unomed account and the associated data. This page applies to the Unomed mobile app and web app.

How to request deletion

Email our support team from your registered Unomed email address, with the subject “Delete my Unomed account”:

support@unomed.ch

Please include:

  • your full name
  • your registered email address
  • the reason for deletion — optional

If you no longer have access to the registered email address, say so in the same message. We will then guide you through another way of proving your identity.

Verification

So that nobody can have someone else’s account deleted, we verify every request before carrying it out:

  • We send a confirmation email to your registered email address.
  • You confirm within seven days and send us a copy of your ID card or passport as proof of identity.
  • Requests that are not confirmed are closed automatically.

If the registered email address is no longer reachable for you, we may ask for further proof — for example details of your last successful login, or a code from the app.

What we delete

Once the request is confirmed, we delete:

  • your account profile and identifiers at Unomed
  • your settings, saved preferences and access tokens
  • your uploaded files and documents held by Unomed
  • your direct patient communication and chat history on Unomed systems — as far as no statutory retention obligation of the healthcare provider stands in the way

What may be retained — and why

We keep individual records where the law requires or permits it and where security and traceability demand it:

  • billing, transaction and audit logs, for tax, accounting and security purposes
  • records required by healthcare providers or by law — these are governed by the provider, not by Unomed
  • backups: deleted items disappear from active systems immediately, and from the backups with the next routine backup cycle

Retention period: only as long as statutory obligations require — accounting records, for instance, for up to ten years under Swiss law.

How long it takes

  • Acknowledgement: within five business days
  • Completion of the deletion after verification: usually within 30 days

Effects of deletion

  • You lose access to your Unomed account.
  • Any sharing links you created stop working.
  • Content that forms part of another party’s medical record cannot be deleted from that party’s system; it is, however, no longer associated with your Unomed account.

Cancel a deletion request

If you change your mind before the deletion is complete, reply in the same email thread saying “Cancel deletion”.
