Editorial criteria: 12 October 2026. Audiences and platforms stated by vendors; ratings submitted by users.

What should physiotherapy software cover?

Check how prescriptions, treatment series, appointments, documentation and invoices connect. A general patient record alone does not show whether your daily physiotherapy process is supported.

Use a fictitious case in the demonstration. Include changes, cancelled appointments and handing treatment over to another therapist.

Which Swiss physiotherapy tariffs should it support?

Physioswiss distinguishes the KVG tariff structure with tariff code 312 from UVG/MVG/IVG with tariff code 311. Ask about the applicable structure and its current version.

Have the prescription, required insurance details and invoice creation demonstrated. Clarify how tariff updates are delivered and who reviews the invoice before sending it.

What do implementation and migration cost?

Compare licences, users or workstations, electronic billing, training, support and data migration. Request one-off and recurring costs separately.

Use a test export to check whether patient details, prescriptions, documentation and open invoices can be transferred. Also clarify a complete export if you later switch provider.

Eight criteria for physiotherapy practice software

Check the same processes with every provider. This list does not confirm product features; it identifies what to clarify in demonstrations and quotations.

1. Prescriptions and treatment series

Can prescriptions, sessions and required documents be managed together? Can your team see missing details and open treatment series?

2. Appointment and resource scheduling

Check recurring appointments, staff, rooms and equipment. Have cancellations, rescheduling and reminders demonstrated in your actual team process.

3. Treatment documentation

Check findings, goals, progress and discharge reports. Who can read or change them, and can changes and the responsible person be traced?

4. Swiss tariffs and invoices

Ask for demonstrations of the applicable KVG and UV/MV/IV processes. Clarify tariff updates, insurance details, electronic invoices, rejected claims and review before sending.

5. Data protection and access

Ask about data location, the processing agreement, roles, two-factor sign-in and access logs. Check how documents are handled on local devices.

6. Devices, platforms and interfaces

Check browser, Mac or Windows support, printers and card readers. Clarify document exchange, referrer communication and interfaces using your devices.

7. Migration and service continuity

Test data migration and a complete export. Ask about backups, restoration, outage procedures and contracted availability.

8. Costs and support

Compare total costs over the same period. Clarify training, support hours, response times, additional charges and cancellation conditions.

Questions about physiotherapy practice software

Which software is suitable for physiotherapy?

The list shows 30 systems that name physiotherapy as an audience. Check whether a system supports your practice’s prescriptions, documentation, scheduling and billing.

Is physiotherapy software the same as medical practice software?

Some systems serve both audiences. Physiotherapy particularly needs prescriptions, treatment series and the applicable physiotherapy tariffs. General medical software does not automatically cover these processes.

Can it run in the cloud or on a Mac?

Use the platform filter to narrow the list. Check the actual devices and additional programs with each provider. The cloud and Mac comparisons explain these operating models.

What does physiotherapy software cost?

Costs depend on users, features, operation and support. Request one-off implementation and migration costs separately from recurring fees, including electronic billing.

Are these ratings specifically from physiotherapy practices?

Ratings come from the shared practice software comparison. They can be submitted by different professional groups and are not exclusively physiotherapy ratings.
