LibreOffice ist eine kostenlose, quelloffene Office-Suite (Mozilla Public License v2.0) der Document Foundation, die als Nachfolgeprojekt von OpenOffice entwickelt wird und sechs Hauptanwendungen umfasst: Writer (Textverarbeitung), Calc (Tabellenkalkulation), Impress (Präsentationen), Draw (Vektorgrafiken), Base (Datenbanken) und Math (Formeleditor). Die Suite unterstützt das offene OpenDocument Format (ODF) nativ sowie Microsoft Office Formate (DOCX, XLSX, PPTX) und zahlreiche weitere Formate, ist verfügbar für Windows, macOS und Linux als Desktop-Anwendung sowie für Android und iOS mobil. LibreOffice bietet umfangreiche Erweiterungsmöglichkeiten durch über 600 Extensions, Makro-Programmierung mit LibreOffice Basic, Python und JavaScript, und kann über Collabora Online auch als webbasierte Lösung genutzt werden. Die Suite richtet sich an Privatpersonen, Bildungseinrichtungen, Behörden und Unternehmen, die eine vollwertige, kostenlose Office-Lösung ohne Vendor Lock-in und mit voller Datenkontrolle suchen.
